The Best Compliment EVER!

Julie and I did this boudoir shoot in the beginning of the year in Richmond, Virginia as a wedding gift for her soon to be husband.  We waited to post it until after her wedding so we could keep it a surprise. I got all giddy when she contacted me, the way I always do when fellow photographers contact me to do a shoot.  It's the best compliment I could possibly get.  Another professional photographer, someone who is in the industry and has the critical and creative eye wants me to do her shoot?  HELL YEAH!  I felt absolutely honored that she loved my work and trusted me to do her shoot.

I'm going to get a little real here. I know it's silly, but I always get nervous when photographing other photographers still, even though I've done it a dozen or so times.  I just feel like photographers know what they like, and know what they're looking at when it comes to lighting, posing, composition, etc.  Deep in my bones I know that I know what I'm doing.  I've been doing this for almost 8 years now. And I know that they wouldn't be hiring me if they didn't like my style... but damn it, that self judgement snaps in and I'm questioning my work.  I am human, after all.  In the end I feel like we knocked her shoot out of the park.  She was thrilled with the photos, as was I.

And I know I've said this before... but I'm so in love with that tub!!!!  This place is definitely my favorite hotel to shoot in in Virginia.  Consider me smitten.  =^.^=

I'm SOOOO thrilled that Julie did a shoot with me because she used her own makeup artist, Nicole Laughlin, who I ended up falling in loooove with!  So I stole her for my own shoots.  =)  She's laid back with a positive attitude, which makes her fun to work with!  She has 15+ years of experience in the hair and makeup industry.  Nicole is amazingly talented at what she does, she can rock the all out glam look one day then do a natural and timeless look flawlessly the next.  She's skilled with working with all skin types, ages, and colors.  You can check out Nicole's website HERE and follow her work on Instagram HERE.
