Stefanie's Black & White Boudoir Session | Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Before & AfterSome of our clients manage to make their way into our heart, where they will always have a place.  Stefanie has touched us in a way that will will never forget.  I'll let her tell the story:

Dear Jen and Max,

I can’t thank you enough for my amazing experience with you guys through Breathless Boudoir.  I had only learned about the concept of boudoir photography a few months ago, and to be honest the whole idea was foreign to me.  I had dance recital and senior portraits taken of me, but those were years ago; I’d never thought to put myself “out there” in such a detailed fashion.

When you grow up associated with being “too gangly-legged” to take hip-hop class and “too skinny” to be anything but anorexic, you develop a less than stellar self-image.  And shopping?  Forget about it!  Nothing fits quite right – how’re you supposed to feel confident when clothes hang all over you?  I know, I know *skinny girl problems* right?   Yoga has helped me to appreciate, rather than be envious, of gorgeous bodies, but it’s still a huge blow to the ego when you try on the latest pieces and leave without buying anything because you feel just plain ridiculous.

My role model is Audrey Hepburn and she made skinny not only beautiful, but downright sexy.  These days, you don’t see anyone with less than a D cup in any of the Victoria’s Secret magazines.  You’d be hard pressed to find a “sexy” model with hips so bony that they could take out a granite counter top!

That being said, I was a bit terrified of putting myself out there in all my “skinny glory”.  But I had to do something for my 25th birthday to boost my confidence.  You guys were so open and easy to talk to that by the time my hair and make-up were done, I wasn’t worried about my inability to be photogenic – heck, I was ready for my close up!  You made me feel confident that you’d find the angles that were uniquely flattering for my body.  From assuming the position yourselves, to asking me to make the most obnoxious laugh ever just to capture the natural laugh that was sure to follow, you guided me to be seductive, and dare I say it, beautiful.

The shoot itself was unbelievably fun, but I was absolutely blown away when we sat down to view what you had captured.  I didn’t see an uber-self-conscious skinny girl, I suddenly saw the confident 25 year old that I want to be.  So what if I don’t look like a Victoria’s Secret modelthey don’t look like me!  I couldn’t believe how amazing you made me look… It just goes to show you why Audrey insisted on always having Bob Willoughby as her photographer - no matter how insecure you are, when you’re in the hands of talented photographers such as yourselves, the results are nothing short of awe-inspiring.

I can’t wait to have my pictures - the confidence this shoot gave me is beyond priceless.  This was only going to be a “happy birthday to me”, but after this experience, I want to do a session every year just to have fun!  You guys are truly AWESOME and I can’t wait to work with you again! With SO much gratitude,

Stefanie

Whew.... every time I read that it makes me tear up.  And I've already read it 4 or 5 times.  Her testimonial is a great reminder to Max and I about why we do what we do, and what we started out with boudoir photography to do. Allowing a woman to see herself without seeing what she perceives as flaws first is the greatest gift we can give.  What we do is so incredibly fulfilling to us that we owe Stefanie just as much thanks as she has given us, if not more.  Our clients make our lives wonderful, and for that we are eternally grateful!

I shall stall no longer, Stefanie's photos must be seen!  For her album, she did something we haven't done before... all black & white!  I just love how it came out!  It's classic and timeless, just like the look she was going for.

Boudoir session for a wedding gift!

Before and after makeover ©2013 Breathless BoudoirRachel was getting married and wanted something unforgettable to give her groom on the wedding day.  There really isn't a better gift to give a groom than a book full of his beautiful bride who he is about to commit the rest of his life to.

Rachel did some fine art nude black and white photos to hang on her wall as well as some sassy other sets.

Here's what Rachel had to say about her Breathless Boudoir experience,

There is only one word that I can use to describe Jen and Max… AMAZING! I had such a wonderful time during my boudoir session. Jen and Max were so professional and made me feel so comfortable the minute that I walked in the door. The hair and makeup team were awesome and transformed me from plain/no makeup to glamorous Hollywood bombshell. I was nervous in the beginning, but both Jen and Max really set the tone and made things so much fun. I loved their energy and competitiveness that they had together throughout the shoot, constantly competing for who would have the best photo and the comments about how good they were turning out during the shooting was definitely entertaining and exciting. During the whole shoot I kept saying to myself “I want to see!!!!” and they would give me little sneak peeks here and there, but man was I surprised when we reviewed the pictures together at the end. The photos were absolutely stunning and I could not believe that they were me! Needless to say, I loved everything so much I ended up spending way more than I originally planned to spend. These photos aren’t just boudoir photos, they are works of fine art that any person would be proud to hang in their home, I know I can’t wait to hang my photo in my bedroom!  Thank you Jen and Max for creating a one of a kind gift for my husband to be, I know that he is going to love it!!!

Monique's Boudoir Session in New Orleans!!

Where do I even start with Monique?  She jumped on board the Breathless in New Orleans promotion and we instantly fell in love with this woman!  She is so full of personality and genuine awesomeness!  She had great spunk and the best ideas the whole time.  From 70's style shorts and sexy sunglasses to vintage inspired styling, she rocked it!  We were tickled to find out she blogged about her experience.  (You can find her blog here.)

"This month I did a photo shoot with Max and Jen of Breathless Boudoir.  I’ll be more posting pictures soon! Once I arrived at the hotel, I felt like a Movie Star. The makeup artist sat me down to do my makeup and then it was hair and outfits (or lack thereof). Before I go any further, I’m sure a lot of you are wondering ‘what boudoir photography even is’. Well, from the lovely Wikipedia, here is an explanation: Typically shot in a photographer’s studio or luxury hotel suites, it has become fashionable to create a set of sensual or sexually suggestive images of women (and occasionally men and couples) in “boudoir style”. The most common manifestation of contemporary boudoir photography is to take variations of candid and posed photographs of the subject partly clothed or in lingerie. Nudity is more often implied than explicit. Now that you know what the hell I did, I can explain to you how SPECTAC Max and Jen were as a duo! I don’t mind being naked, so I wasn’t really too nervous but they still made me feel so comfortable. I believe every person should do a boudoir photo shoot. It’s not at all just putting on lingerie and posing in front of a camera. It’s not a playboy shoot. It’s fun. It’s sexy. Most importantly, it’s self-enriching. I suffer from depression. I’ve accepted it. I take medicine for it. No medicine in the world could give me the confident and happiness I got when I did this photo shoot. They take every flaw you’ve ever thought you had and make you see it as beautiful. You truly come out a new person after the session. It wasn’t just the luxury hotel suite or the hair and makeup stylists; it was when I saw the pictures. I had no IDEA my tits looked that amazing or I can be THAT sexy. I don’t really like my legs but they look BEAUTIFUL. After seeing those pictures, I saw that I not only have a beautiful personality but I am also a beautiful person outside. I am truly blessed with beauty.. each and every one of us are and shouldn’t think any less."

It's clients like this that give us the drive to do what we do (and make Max and I BOTH tear up like babies!!)  I couldn't imagine having a more fulfilling job in the world.  I feel like we are giving women permission to see themselves as beautiful, and to flaunt it.  Most of all, we are giving women permission to feel comfortable in their own skin.
