She booked a boudoir session BECAUSE she gained weight.

This isn’t Ashley’s first rodeo.

She knows the power of a boudoir session from our shoot together 4 years ago. Since then we’ve both been through the emotional roller coaster of a divorce. She gained weight and wasn’t feeling super in love with herself, but her man still finds her sexy so she wanted to see it, too.

Was she scared of this decision?

Hell yeah she was. She was afraid of the way she would see herself in the photos. After her shoot she said:

While I struggle with my self image these days, I was very happy with the results of our session and it truly made me see my inner and outer beauty.

When I asked her what she would want to take with her from this experience and never forget, she replied:

That our bodies can change over time and through certain life stages but that will never define what’s on the inside and how sexy confidence is whether you’re a size 2 or 20.

The biggest reason I hear from women why they’re not ready to do their shoot yet is because they want to lose weight first.

And I totally get it. If you’re not feeling in love with yourself and they way your body looks why on earth would you put that body in front of a stranger wearing barely anything?! My response to that way of thinking?

You can’t afford NOT to do it.

Life is absolutely precious. Every single second of every single day we get to live of it is a sacred gift. You can’t afford to waste one more day wishing you were thinner, or younger, or something other than what you are. You know better than anyone how much your self judgement seeps into your everyday life. The way it manifests as irritability with others, or exhaustion, or hiding yourself from the world. Finding your self confidence is the greatest gift you can give yourself. It affects every area of your life.

Whether you book your own boudoir shoot or not,
do something right now to help you build your self confidence.

Fear is something I try to acknowledge and allow myself to feel

That's what she said...

What was your biggest fear prior to your session?

Fear is something I try to acknowledge and allow myself to feel. My fears prior to this photo shoot consisted of not being able to let go and be sexy on camera. I've only had one photography look my whole life-look straight at the camera and smile! I also feared that the photos would not be perfection. I'm a life long perfectionist and want everything I do to be just that way. Once the clothes came off and the photo shoot started, my fear of not feeling sexy vanished and I focused completely on Jen's directions. I had to release the perfectionism and embrace the real me in that moment. Was I perfect? No but I was still stunning.

What was your favorite part?

It is cliche to say but it is empowering. To know that I am capable of oozing sexuality and showcasing excellent physical condition at my age is uplifting and motivating-hopefully not just to me, but to others as well. I also loved the creative aspect of the photo shoot and experimenting with the human form.

How would you describe your experience to your best friend?

I would say you just have to do this for yourself. Every woman and man should...the experience can not really be described. I would say though that the resulting photographs tell a story and the process allows you to love and accept your body and spirit completely.

Would you do it again?

In a heartbeat. I want to explore outdoor scenic boudoir photography!

That's what she said...

My favorite part of the session was...

"How comfortable Jen made me feel from the first email exchange we had. She was genuinely excited to work with me and I felt like she quickly understood what I wanted from the photo shoot. Jen is so good at directing, which is key to getting a good photo. She told me exactly what to do and how to pose and I didn't have to think about it or feel awkward. I felt really good and I had fun while she photographed me. And I don't like to be photographed normally!"

Her biggest fear...

"That I would feel completely nervous and self-conscious and look really stiff and not sexy in the photos."

Hair and makeup by Destiny Noir

A year has passed by since...

BeforeAfter_boudoir_Maren I've always been curious about what happens when the excitement from the boudoir photography experience fades.  Do people still look at their photos?  Are they still excited?  Is there a lasting effect form the photo shoot?  I got to have these questions answered recently by Maren.  Her session was almost a year ago.

Do you still look at your photos?

All the time!

Did your session change anything about the way you see yourself?  Was that a lasting effect?

Yes, it made me more comfortable with my body as a whole, because I now have photos of a side of me that typically won't get photographed!

Did you noticed any changes between the two of you after your session?

Yes, he wouldn't leave me alone! But in all seriousness yes, because i was more comfortable in my body, I was a lot more comfortable with my husband.

Danielle's Curvy Boudoir Session & Testimonial

A lot of times when Max and I tell people what we do, the person we're talking to remarks that they're too curvy to do a boudoir session, using terms much harsher than "curvy" to describe themselves. "Oh, if I could lose xx more pounds I may consider that".  It really hurts my heart to hear statements like these.  Every. Single. Woman. Deserves to feel beautiful.  It hurts to think that there are women out there, loads of them, who don't feel beautiful because in their mind they weigh too much.  Because at some point in their lives, or at many points in their lives, they were reminded that society reserves the "beauty" title for only those thin enough to grace the cover of our magazines.  Well this is bullshit. All of our clients are all brave to trust us to photograph them in the most vulnerable way possible, but our curvy clients are extra brave because not only are they allowing themselves to be vulnerable, but they're also saying "EFF what society's definition of beautiful is!  I'm beautiful too, damn it!"

"Before the session, my biggest fear was that I wouldn't LOVE any of the pictures because of my weight. I'm always self-conscious and there is always something I don't like about myself. I was SO wrong. There are no words to describe the way I feel about my pictures. Jen and Max know just what to do and just how to pose you to make you look flawless and make you feel incredibly sexy. When I saw those pictures for the first time, I was beyond impressed. I couldn't believe that was me!"

"A friend of mine was so excited to step outside the box and do one and was getting so excited about it that I decided to set up an appointment too. From the time I set up my appointment until the day I walked through the door of the studio, I was a ball of nerves. I was so worried about everything (because that's just who I am). "What am I going to wear? How am I going to pose? What was I thinking? I'm overweight and there is no way I'm going to feel sexy." Boy was I wrong. As soon as you walk in and meet them, they make you feel comfortable. They are excited to work with you and are sure that you are going to look fabulous. The girls who did my hair and makeup were amazing. I felt so beautiful.  During the shoot, Jen and Max would say things like "Stunning!" "Wow! That was incredible!" "Just wait until you see what I'mseeing." That is what truly stuck out to me. When they were raving about how beautiful and sexy I looked, I couldn't help but smile and feel even that much more wonderful."

"If you are terrified of booking a shoot, know that you are not alone. I was too. But now, I don't know what I was so afraid of. This was one of the most amazing things I have ever done. In fact, I would absolutely LOVE to do another one. It's almost like a high. You feel wonderful, you look amazing, and you leave there looking at yourself differently then when you came. Don't second guess yourself. Book a session with Jen and Max! You won't regret it." -Danielle

Blanche's Boudoir Session | Baton Rouge, LA

©2014 Breathless Boudoir | Jen & Max Trombly Blanche came in to our studio to create a boudoir book as a gift for her fiancé on their wedding day.  We created art that she loves so much she ended up getting the album AND some wall art!  I can't wait to see her images in print form!

What was your biggest fear before the session? Did your fear come true, and if not, what happened instead? I was worried that the shoot would not be tastefully done. This fear did NOT come true. I felt comfortable having both the husband and wife team there! I was worried that because the session is for my fiancé and has sexual undertones that it may be cheapened in a way. This was totally not the case. I felt confident and comfortable the whole time and felt really good about myself.

What was your favorite part of your Breathless Boudoir experience and why?I loved having all the various layouts and areas to shoot. It was fun moving from room to room because I was surprised by every setting.

©2014 Breathless Boudoir | Jen & Max Trombly©2014 Breathless Boudoir | Jen & Max Trombly If you were to recommend us to your best friend, what would you say?I would say it was a tremendous experience that all women should do. It made me feel confident and sexy which is hard for me a lot of the time. All women need that boost.

We have found that testimonials from past clients help to ease potential clients nerves. Can you take a minute to tell us about your experience as if you were talking to a friend?

From the minute you walk in you are greeted by a friendly husband and wife team who escort you to get primped and pampered. While you have your hair and makeup done, you sip champagne! They help you select outfits which will work best for them and you (so bring a ton of lingerie, stockings and shoes!) You will be truly amazed at the transformation your hair and makeup gives you and you'll be ready for your shoot to start. Once it begins you have some small jitters and insecurities but they quickly fade away while you enjoy feeling like a supermodel. They give you plenty of direction, so those of you who feel like you never know what to do with your hands or have a lifetime of being un-photogenic, don't worry! It was a terrific experience and my fiancé loved the preview picture that I sent him. It is all well worth it! Enjoy yourself!
